Turn your melodic sample files into presets or multi-sample instruments for various DAWs. Preset Maker groups one shot melodic samples from your Sample Packs into easy-to-load presets.

Example: Process a Sample Pack and have it turn all the Guitar one shot samples into one "Guitar" preset, and all the Synth one shots into a "Synth" preset, making it super quick to load sounds from your favorite packs.

Note that Ableton requires the Sampler device.

Preset Maker

Preset Maker is a standalone app for creating melodic presets from sample packs. It compliments our other app, Kit Maker which creates drum kit presets.

Example of presets in Ableton browser.

Multi-sample presets are named after the filename. Keyword group presets are named after the sample pack folder, followed by the name of the group. ie "Drop Squad Library-Synths" (see screenshot above)

MULTI-SAMPLER CREATION

- Multi-sample audio files can be turned into instruments, automatically mapped across the keyboard chromatically.

- Accepts Maschine Expansions
(please see "Using the App" section below on what this entails)

- Accepts any set of correctly labeled multi-sample wav, mp3 or aif files
(please see "Using the App" section below for how to label these files)

- Accepts Logic "Auto-sampler" samples (.aif files made with Auto-sampler)

KEYWORD GROUP PRESETS

- One-shot samples can be grouped into presets (for example, a preset of "Synth" one-shots or a preset of "Guitar" one-shots). Preset Maker can group together similarly categorized sounds of a sample pack into an easy-to-load preset for your DAW.

- It makes it super fast to load up groups of samples from your packs. No more digging around in folders to find cool samples, just load them all as presets!

Note that Keyword Group presets do not chromatically map by note name; this type of presets are simply spread across the keyboard for easy access.

You can set up your Keyword presets however you like!

Maschine Expansions

This app does not convert plugin instruments into presets. However, many Maschine Expansions include multi-sample instruments which can be turned into presets. These can be found in

[Expansion Library]/Samples/Instruments (see screenshot).

Drag your Maschine Expansion library folders you want to process into Preset Maker. They typically end in "Library", but remember that not all "Library" folders are Maschine Expansions.

Note that many instruments in a Maschine Expansion (synth VST presets etc) will Not be made into multi-sample presets; Only the multi-sample files explained above will be made into presets.

(IMPORTANT)

USING THE APP

One Shots / Keyword Presets

Keywords can be changed in the settings. By default, if your sample pack contains a folder called "Cello Samples" and one called "Perc Samples", the one shot samples inside the folders will be made into presets called "Strings" and "Percussion", respectively (see the screenshot below).

The red text fields are what the preset will be titled. The white text fields the folder "keywords." When a subfolder inside the sample pack has the keyword in the title, the audio files inside will be made into a preset. The glowing red button on the right is a melodic filter, and when enabled, it will only accept filenames that contain a melodic note. This is useful when creating presets of strictly melodic sounds, but non melodic sounds, such as percussion, can be created as well.

Default Keywords in the Preferences

Multi-Sampler

This app uses your *existing* samples to create presets; it is not an "auto sampling" software that records audio files for you. However, if you have sample files from Logic's Auto-sampler or other auto-sampling software, Preset Maker can make presets with those files.

Samples will need to be named *identically*, other than the note and octave, to be accepted. Octave number must directly after the note name, and the scale needs to be in sharps (#) not flats (b)  (as is common for sample labeling).

If your filenames vary from this basic convention, please rename your files before processing.

For example:
Electric Guitar C#2
Electric Guitar D3

Or
banjoPluck_A#2_.wav
banjoPluck_A#3_.wav

etc

(Note: Logic's Auto-sampler files are fine and accepted as-is, despite the additional characters at the end of the filenames. No need to rename these yourself!)

Multi-Velocity Samples (Ableton, MPC and SFZ)

If you have multiple velocity samples, these can be made into presets. Multi-velocity samples will need to follow the naming convention outlined below, but also include a velocity number separated by spaces or dashes.

For example:
Electric Guitar C#2 V32
Electric Guitar C#2 V64
Electric Guitar D3 V32
Electric Guitar D3 V64
etc
